Middlesbrough player backed for transfer

Former Slovakia international Ľubomír Moravčík had spells at Saint-Étienne, Celtic and a few other clubs during his playing career.

He spent six years at the French club between 1990 and 1996, playing over 200 matches.

Peuple-Vert, a website dedicating their coverage to the Ligue 2 side, have been speaking to 60-year-old.

When asked which Slovakian player he would recommend for Saint-Étienne, Moravčík makes an ‘unexpected transfer recommendation’ of Middlesbrough’s David Strelec.

The former midfielder urges Saint-Étienne to sign the 25-year-old and explains why they should take it into consideration.

“He might be a good signing for Saint-Étienne for the first division next season. He’s a centre-forward, left-footed, quick, and very comfortable in front of goal,” he said.

“I think he’s at Middlesbrough, who are currently fighting for promotion. If they don’t get promoted and Saint-Étienne wants to, he’s a player they should go and sign.”

Both Kim Hellberg’s side and the French club are in contention to secure a promotion to the top flight.

Middlesbrough are fourth in the table, a point behind third placed Millwall and two behind second placed Ipswich Town. Saint-Étienne are third in the Ligue 2, trailing second placed Le Mans by a point.

Whether Saint-Étienne will consider Moravčík’s recommendation isn’t clear yet.
