Teammate reveals Arsenal player’s vodka-pasta expertise and dealing with Gunners criticism

Viktor Gyökeres may not be particularly good at scoring goals at the minute, but the Arsenal striker does have another skill up his sleeve, cooking.

Swedish teammate Viktor Johansson has revealed the Arsenal striker’s ability in the kitchen today, having recently reached out to the Arsenal man to support him.

“I call and check in. Sometimes he’s been up in Stoke and we’ve hung out and cooked together. Sometimes it’s best not to talk about it too much, either,” he told Fotboll Skanalen.

“We know what a fantastic player and person he is, and it will all work out. We’re ordinary people, and it’s not all about football. We can talk about plenty of other things, too.”

A secret Masterchef

The goalkeeper says Gyökeres is “incredible” in the kitchen.

“He was the one who taught me how to make vodka pasta. But he’s moved on from that now. I don’t remember what he cooked last time, but it was tasty, at any rate.”

It’s been a rough start to the season for the Arsenal striker, who is yet to score in five games in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

He is also yet to start a game in the Premier League, spending three of the first five games sat on the bench as an unused substitute.

Growing criticism

Criticism has been vigorous. Some believe that he has now completely lost his place to Kai Havertz and will struggle to get it back.

Johansson is more than aware of the criticism. In fact, he appears to have read it himself. He, though, is confident that things will improve for the Arsenal striker.

“It’s never fun to read. Then again, I’m not the best at reading what’s been written. But I think he’s a fantastic footballer and person. That’s what I take away from it,” he added.
