Crystal Palace exit still not finalised – Odd situation needs resolving

Mofe Jemide left Crystal Palace for Alverca in August, but almost a month later there’s still a problem to sort out in Portugal.

The defender was officially presented by Alverca on August 20th. Despite that, he still hasn’t been registered with the Liga and therefore can’t play for his new club.

Record explain on Tuesday that some documents are still missing before Jemide’s registration can be completed.

Alverca hope to sort it this week

The newspaper doesn’t say exactly which documents are causing the hold-up. Alverca are working on it, though. The club’s management hope to get everything sorted at some point this week.

It’s quite a strange situation considering Jemide has been an Alverca player, at least publicly, for nearly four weeks.

The youngster had already travelled to Portugal before his presentation. Record reported at the time that he was set to sign a four-year contract.

That appeared to wrap everything up. The move had been expected for a while, with the English media reporting beforehand that Jemide was heading to Portugal.

Yet almost a month after Alverca presented him, the paperwork still isn’t completely done.

Still waiting for his senior chance

That must be annoying for Jemide because this move was meant to get his senior career properly going.

He spent his entire career at Crystal Palace before leaving this summer. Last season, he played 20 times for the Eagles’ U21 side and registered one assist.

Jemide, who turned 20 earlier this month, has also represented England at U17 and U20 level.

Sturm Graz had shown interest in him before Alverca got the deal done. Also, Palace made sure they could benefit further down the line. Record previously reported that the Eagles will receive a percentage of any future sale.

For now, though, Jemide is just waiting on the paperwork to catch up so he can finally get on the pitch.
