Potential opportunity for Nottingham Forest following January rejection – Contract negotiations stalling

by · Sport Witness

Nottingham Forest could be offered a second shot at Ramon Hendricks this summer, as contract negotiations at VfB Stuttgart are not going well.

BILD report on the 24-year-old today and how a move could be on the cards thanks to a dispute over a potential contract renewal.

Contract renewal effort

The newspaper explains that while Ramon Hendriks and Stuttgart had intended to renew their agreement this summer – his current deal expires in 2028 – the player has now broken off negotiations.

According to BILD’s information, Stuttgart’s proposal did not meet the Dutchman’s expectations. He wants an improved salary adjustment after signing for the German club on a bargain deal two years ago.

He’s currently on a salary which is ‘below average’ for the club and for his performances. However, that’s now been put on hold by his representatives.

Stuttgart are, reportedly surprised by that information. They are confident an agreement can be reached.

Their plan is to get the new deal signed at the end of the transfer window. Their new offer, comprising of €2.5m a year and a signing on bonus, would put him in the top ten earners at the club.

Nottingham Forest January bid

But until that happens, they have to prepare for the possibility the defender may leave. That’s where Nottingham Forest come into the picture. They offered €15m to sign the defender in the January transfer window.

That offer was rejected immediately. But if they, or another suitor, were to offer double that figure, then Stuttgart would change their mind on the matter. They would certainly have second thoughts about the player.

Indeed, they have already lined up a replacement. Wolves defender Ladislav Krejcí is the man they want should Hendricks leave.

For now, that does not appear to be on the cards. But there may be an opportunity for Nottingham Forest as contract negotiations aren’t yet concluded.
