Agent working to secure Manchester City transfer – Three clubs approached
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessNathan Ake seems to have reached the end of the road at Manchester City. His entourage is now working to secure a summer transfer.
So far this season, the Dutchman has played less than 500 minutes in the Premier League. His last start came against Manchester United back in January and he hasn’t played more than two minutes in a game since.
This gives an impression that Manchester City are prepared to move on without him.
Abdukodir Khusanov’s rise has probably played a part, with the Uzbek having started all of the last four games.
Now, Ake’s agents are attempting to find a new club for the defender.
Italian clubs handed opportunity
Tuttomercatoweb report about the 31-year-old, appearing certain Nathan Ake will leave Manchester City in the summer. He is part of the club’s major shake-up, with John Stones and Bernardo Silva also departing.
Ake’s agents have offered him to three clubs in Italy – AC Milan, Inter and Juventus.
West Ham were said to have come close to signing him in January, and Milan had interest too.
They never made a formal move but could return in the summer. An issue is likely to be Manchester City’s valuation of €10m to €15m. Ake’s wage demands are also going to be a bit problematic for the Rossoneri, as he currently earns around €190k a week.
Our take: Ake might not want to take wage cut
Italian clubs operate on a strict self-imposed wage budget. Milan’s highest wage earners are Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot, as the duo earn around €178k per week each. This would make Ake’s signing quite complicated for them, unless he takes a wage cut.
A sale to Italy would also require Manchester City to reduce their valuation. If not, they would have to accept an initial loan deal while extending Ake’s contract, which runs out in 2027.
This feels an attempt from those around Ake to survey the market before the season ends. More options – especially ones in England, can emerge in the summer.
