West Ham want to sign Brighton target in January – Exciting Hammers plan

by · Sport Witness

West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion are in the picture to sign Boca Juniors’ Milton Delgado in the winter market.

Earlier this month, we covered claims from Argentina that West Ham have emerged as a strong contender to sign the 20-year-old.

El Intransigente backs up West Ham’s interest, and then also report about Brighton.

The defensive midfielder made his way into the Argentine club’s first team in 2024, after graduating from their youth system. His performances have ‘aroused interest’ from Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

West Ham aren’t the only club that want to sign him in the next window. It’s claimed both Brighton and FC Porto also have the Argentina U20 international on their radar.

Delgado has a contract until December 2028, and Transfermarkt currently values him at €6m.

Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme has a strategy to avoid selling him for ‘less than the desired amount’ of $20m [€17m].

He’s seeking to renew the player’s contract and insert a $45m [€38.2m] release clause. This would only work if Delgado agrees to sign an extension.

In the event West Ham or Brighton’s ‘financial might ultimately tempt’ Delgado, Riquelme then has to look for his replacement. In other words, Boca Juniors wouldn’t be able to stop his transfer to England, if there’s concrete advances.
