“It’s true” – Leeds United man reveals reason for snubbing transfer offer, open to joining club in future
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessLeeds United allowed Rasmus Kristensen to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan deal in the summer window. Prior to joining the Bundesliga side, FC Midtjylland showed interest in securing his services.
Back in July, we covered claims from Denmark which stated the right-back was seen with Midtjylland director Claus Steinlein and the pair discussed a possible transfer.
The Danish club will host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League later today and ahead of this clash, the Leeds man has revealed that Midtjylland made an approach for him in the last window. His comments are relayed by Bild.
Kristensen graduated from Midtjylland’s academy and spent two years with their senior team, before moving to Ajax in 2018.
His former team made an offer to bring him back to club, but the 27-year-old favoured a move to the Bundesliga side. Despite this, the Denmark international has left the door open to return to Midtjylland in the future.
“It’s true, there was this offer. But Frankfurt’s package was the better one and they also had a good concept. Nevertheless, I can imagine going back [to Midtjylland] at some point to give something back to the club,” he said.
“This is a special moment for me. This is my home club, my uncle and my cousin also played here. I spent many years here, even as a fan in the past. I’m delighted to be here.”
In May 2023, the fullback stated he has “never hidden” his desire to return to his former club.
This season, the Leeds United owned player has impressed for Eintracht Frankfurt, who have an option to buy him around €10-12m. The Bundesliga side have stated they will hold talks with the Whites, likely to try and make his stay permanent for a lower price.
