Aston Villa contact for Brazilian ‘in recent days’ – Told €30m to complete deal
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessAston Villa have been keeping a close eye on Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara and are now making moves to sign him.
The midfielder has been an important player for the Turkish side this season. He’s played 42 times in all competitions, also contributing to 11 goals.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle United in the ex-Norwich City star. Calciomercato IT made it clear that attention around Sara has grown in the last few weeks, with Atletico Madrid also in the picture.
Italian clubs have been evaluating the possibility of a move. Their hopes are likely to be dashed by Premier League sides due to financial reasons.
Unai Emery’s side are now advancing for the Brazil international.
Initial contact made
Tuttomercatoweb report Aston Villa have enquired about Sara. ‘In recent days’, they have asked about the midfielder and presumably spoke to his entourage about a summer move.
The Villans are now aware they need €30m to sign him, with Galatasaray having paid €18m to Norwich City back in 2024.
This valuation isn’t seen as alarming for Aston Villa, who are well-positioned to make an offer in the summer.
Previously, a price tag of €40m has also been mentioned. This is perhaps a sign that even if Galatasaray demand that, suitors should be able to negotiate a lower figure.
Our take: England move won’t be surprising
The 26-year-old is represented by agent Carlos Leite. While he has a host of clients in Brazil and in Turkey, he also represents Wolves players Joao Gomes and Andre.
Sara played over 90 times for Norwich City and thrived, contributing to over 20 goals.
That should be seen as a big positive for Aston Villa, who are still uncertain about Douglas Luiz. If the Juventus loanee leaves, bringing in Sara from Galatasaray looks a good option.
