Nottingham Forest’s offer for signing surpasses demand – Club want quick profit from summer sale
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessNottingham Forest want to sign Rayo Vallecano’s Nobel Mendy in the summer.
The La Liga side signed him from Real Betis on loan with a conditional purchase obligation last summer.
Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Rayo Vallecano will pay €2.4m to buy him.
That’s because Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Atalanta are all very keen and are ready to submit high offers.
Earlier today, we relayed news that Benfica are not ready to act yet despite monitoring the centre-back. The Eagles are waiting to find out about Nicolás Otamendi and António Silva’s futures before making advances.
Nottingham Forest interest backed up
Saturday’s edition of O Jogo have a different take on Benfica’s and backs up Nottingham Forest’s interest.
The Portuguese club are indeed keen on Nobel Mendy, who will make his stay permanent at Rayo Vallecano. The latter are confident of making a quick profit from his sale in the next window and are requesting €12m.
Vítor Pereira’s side are also interested, and Benfica need to get ahead of them to acquire his signature.
Nottingham Forest have already taken action by submitting an offer for the Senegalese.
Their bid includes €10m in fixed plus €5m bonuses, surpassing the Spanish club’s €12m demand.
The Primeira Liga side are aware they need an offer over €10m and €5m in performance related bonuses to convince Rayo Vallecano.
Nicolás Otamendi and António Silva are among the current centre-backs at Benfica. The Argentine has a contract until June while Silva could change clubs after this season.
Benfica could sign two centre-backs but can only make the final decision after sorting out Otamendi and Silva’s cases. Therefore, they risk losing out on the 21-year-old to the English club.
