Brighton interest confirmed in Argentina – But “big club” option now firmly on table

by · Sport Witness

Brighton & Hove Albion may have timed their scouting trip to perfection when watching Vicente Pizarro, but the latest update suggests the Premier League side are no longer the only clear path for the midfielder.

There has already been strong talk of Brighton tracking the Rosario Central player, with scouts present at recent matches. Now, fresh comments from Argentina give a clearer picture of how things could unfold in the coming months.

“If he doesn’t go to England…”

Speaking on DSPORTS, journalist Rodrigo Vera confirmed the growing Premier League attention around Pizarro, including Brighton’s presence.

He explained: “What has been said here, and I imagine is also the information circulating there, is that he has been followed from English football, particularly Brighton. There were even scouts at the last match.”

That aligns with earlier claims, but Vera then moved the story forward with a more revealing update about the midfielder’s future.

“My information is that, in the middle of the year, if this does not progress, he would still leave Rosario Central and go to a big club in Argentine football.”

Pressed further, he hinted at the level of clubs involved.

“If he doesn’t go to England, he could move to a big club in Argentine football… with a stripe,” he added. It is kind of a joke in Argentina, because the two biggest clubs in the country – Boca Juniors and River Plate – traditionally have stripes in their shirts.

Decision point approaching

So Brighton’s interest in Vicente Pizarro is real, and they have already taken steps by sending scouts.

At the same time, there is a clear fallback option. A move within Argentina, but to a bigger club, would still represent a step forward in his career and likely keep his value rising.

For Brighton, that changes the dynamic slightly. The window to act may not stay open for long, especially if clubs closer to home decide to move first.

Either the Premier League opportunity materialises, or Pizarro takes a different route – one that could still bring him back onto Brighton’s radar later, but under very different conditions.
