WARSAW, POLAND – 10 APRIL, 2025: UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final, Legia Warszawa vs Chelsea FC 0:3 o.p: Filip Jorgensen of Chelsea FC

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen suffered a groin injury in March and has been on the sidelines since then.

The 23-year-old has been the second choice at Chelsea, behind Robert Sánchez.

Prior to his setback, Liam Rosenior started him in the league win over Aston Villa and in the 5-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in March.

With Celtic star Kasper Schmeichel out for the season, the 23-year-old had a chance to start for Denmark in the March international break. However, the setback also meant he couldn’t represent the national team.

Denmark manager Brian Riemer had confirmed his setback, after the stopper underwent scans.

Chelsea star close to Jørgensen

João Pedro arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. He has given an interview to Viaplay and Bold have relayed his comments on Filip Jørgensen.

The Blues star has developed a close bond with the goalkeeper in his first season and now talks about his groin injury.

“He’s going through a tough time right now because he’s injured. So, we’re trying to help him. He’s a really good guy, and both on and off the field, he’s very professional. He tries to help everyone,” he said.

“We’re very close because our girlfriends also try to hang out together. Off the field, we’re always joking around with each other. So, we’re very close.”

Jørgensen joined Chelsea in August 2024, after spending seven years at Villarreal and has played 34 matches so far. This includes 10 matches this season and his Premier League stats are as follows:

  • Appearances: 3
  • Starts: 2
  • Total minutes: 264
  • Clean sheets: 0
  • Goals conceded: 4

Chelsea loanee suffers fresh setback

Chelsea cut short Aarón Anselmino’s loan stay at Borussia Dortmund and sent him on loan to RC Strasbourg in the winter market. The 20-year-old Argentine has played 15 minutes from three matches for the French club.

A hamstring injury in February forced him to spend over a month on the sidelines. Last weekend, the Blues man returned to the pitch in Strasbourg’s 3-1 win over OGC Nice.

L’Equipe now report he has suffered a fresh setback, forcing him to spend more time away from the pitch. Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil has confirmed the latest injury blow.

“It’s the other hamstring this time He needs to undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury,” he said.

What these injuries mean to Chelsea

The Premier League side will be waiting for Filip Jørgensen to return quickly and make himself available for selection.

Aarón Anselmino’s latest injury blow won’t impact Chelsea this season, but his repeated setbacks would certainly be a concern for them.
