Manchester City agree January transfer – Youngster on the move again
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester City’s Claudio Echeverri has struggled since joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan last summer. His loan stay in Germany is set to be cut short in the winter market.
Echeverri wanted to return to River Plate, but Manchester City have refused to let him to return to Argentine. Girona now appear to be his next destination.
Two days ago, Cadena Ser reported he’s given in to the transfer pressure and said yes to the La Liga side. They are stated Girona also nearing an agreement with Manchester City.
Friday’s edition of AS backs up the agreement between the Argentine and the Spanish club.
The attacking midfielder has already agreed to join them on loan. AS adds ‘everything is agreed’ between the two clubs for a temporary deal. It’s claimed Girona ‘don’t want to wait too long’ to conclude this operation.
Echeverri will be a non-EU player. Girona currently have all three slots occupied by Vítor Reis, Yaser Asprilla, and Jhon Solís, and one of them have to leave to make room for the Manchester City owned player.
Over at Bild, they report the South American ‘will leave’ Bayer Leverkusen. They face RB Leipzig in the league on Saturday. If Echeverri is included in the squad, it’ll be his last one with the Bundesliga side.
This is because Guardiola’s side will ‘immediately recall’ the youngster and send him on loan elsewhere in January.
Echeverri has an assist from 270 minutes across 11 matches for Bayer Leverkusen.
