Agent trying to secure transfer to West Ham – Wants to revive Hammers interest
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessWest Ham pursued a move for AC Milan’s Yunus Musah last summer. The player ended up joining Atalanta but is still hoping for a switch to London.
The versatile midfielder’s loan in Bergamo hasn’t gone to plan. He’s played 17 Serie A games, featuring for only 529 minutes. This isn’t quite what the Rossoneri expected, as they initially inserted an option to buy in the loan.
Before that, West Ham made an attempt for the American. At that point, it felt like Napoli were closing in on him and Musah had agreed personal terms with the Partenopei. Sport Witness covered this extensively, as the Rossoneri appeared keen on moving on.
Soon, Atalanta stole the march on the Hammers. Now, the player is already looking towards his future and hoping he moves to England.
Work ongoing to sell Musah
Calciomercato look at possible exits from the Rossoneri in the summer. They would have ideally wanted Atalanta to exercise their option to buy but the way it’s going, that’s very unlikely.
Even the player seems to be aware. Now, he is hoping West Ham come forward for him, with La Liga clubs also in the race. Musah’s agent is hoping to revive interest from the Hammers.
Milan ideally wanted €20m but are now happy to sell him for €16-17m. This will hand them a capital gain and make the most of the situation.
Our take: West Ham should seek discount
The way Musah has performed, the 23-year-old may struggle with a move to the Premier League. If the Hammers really want him, they should be seeking a discount.
Milan could be open to that, especially if no clubs come forward for the USA international.
Musah offers a lot of value on the pitch. He can play a variety of roles and has done that at Milan, also showing off those strengths at Valencia.
