Entourage indicates Newcastle United player keen on specific move
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessNewcastle United’s Odysseas Vlachodimos has been on loan at Sevilla since last summer. The move has seen the goalkeeper enjoy regular minutes that weren’t available to him at the Premier League side.
The Greece international has three clean sheets and has conceded 20 goals from 14 matches this season.
On December 1st, the Newcastle United man said he’s happy at Sevilla. On Monday, he said it’s possible for him to extend his stay beyond this season.
Orgullo Biri now report that sources close to the 31-year-old have indicated he wants to continue at Sevilla after his loan spell.
The La Liga side are pleased with his performances and leadership qualities. The coaching staff and his teammates also value his professionalism and commitment to the club.
Vlachodimos’ contract with the Magpies lasts until 2028, and Eddie Howe’s have full control over his future.
Newcastle United could ask a fee that could be too high for the Spanish club, who are going through a delicate financial situation. In other words, the Magpies are the ‘main obstacle’ for Sevilla to retain the stopper. That doesn’t mean they are giving up.
Sevilla have prioritised extending the Greek’s stay especially since Ørjan Nyland’s contract expires next June. They aren’t ruling out a new loan to retain Vlachodimos, who is open to continue his spell in Spain.
The two parties are open, but it won’t mean anything unless there’s a green light from Eddie Howe’s side.
