Enzo Fernández: Agent changes tune on Real Madrid comments, Chelsea peace has been restored

by · Sport Witness

The drama at Chelse over Enzo Fernández’s comments has now been defused, with his agent admitting his client was in the wrong.

Top Mercato have an exclusive with Javier Pastore today regarding Fernández’s situation at Chelsea and efforts to clear the air at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Argentine, peace has now been restored at the club.

A storm triggered by one interview

Enzo Fernández is currently suspended by Chelsea after an interview that aired while he was on international duty with Argentina.

The Chelsea midfielder admitted he could see himself living in Madrid and would like to move to the Spanish city at some point.

Those comments came after reports in recent weeks linked him with a move to Real Madrid. Inside Chelsea, they remark was interpreted as disrespectful and poorly timed, with Liam Rosenior insisting the 25-year-old had crossed a line.

Fernández was subsequently suspended for their next two games, missing the FA Cup win over Port Vale and the upcoming clash with Manchester City.

Javier Pastore, his agent, initially labelled the decision as fair. He then hinted Fernández may consider a move after the 2026 World Cup. Now, though, his tone has changed.

Agent insists there are no problems

Speaking to Top Mercato are a FedEx ‘Move Like a Pro’ event in Paris, Javier Pastore revealed that direct talks with Chelsea helped to smooth everything over.

“We’ve already talked about this in recent days,” he said.

“These are statements he made without any intention of causing problems at Chelsea. He’s the captain, one of the team’s leaders, and he’s shown his best form on the pitch this season. He was simply talking about a city.

“Then there were a lot of interviews in a short period where he talked about his future. The media mixed things up and started saying he was going to leave Chelsea. There’s absolutely nothing to it.”

Pastore went further, confirming that Chelsea, Enzo, and his camp have aligned their positions.

“We’re on the same page with Chelsea. We made peace yesterday and the day before between Chelsea and the player. There were never really any problems. We cleared the air.”

Internal apologies

According to Pastore, Enzo Fernández now understands the impact of his words and has apologised internally.

“What happened, happened. We explained to the player that, even though he didn’t do anything wrong, he shouldn’t have said that,” he added.

“He’s only 25. He’s still young, he still has things to learn. We explained to the club that he said it without malice, that he made a mistake. He naturally apologized to the club, his teammates, the coach, the sporting director, everyone. We’re all on the same page. We simply had to clear up the misunderstanding.”

Attention fully on Chelsea

Chelsea will now be hoping that the incident can be swiftly put to one side as they focus on trying to get into the Champions League.

The Blues are currently 6th and entering a decisive stretch of the season. With pressure mounting on Liam Rosenior, he needs everyone pulling in the same direction.

Enzo Fernández has been a key player this season and his agent insists the focus is on getting Chelsea over the finish line.

“Chelsea is fighting for its Champions League spot through the Premier League, which is very important for the club,” he concluded.

“Enzo needs to play because he has a World Cup coming up. Chelsea needs him because he’s a key player for their team. We’ve talked; we’ve sorted everything out on both sides.

“Things are perfectly clear. There’s no conflict whatsoever. Enzo still has six years left on his contract and we need to work together, which is what we’re doing.”
