‘Considerable interest’ – Crystal Palace intend to make move for €25-30m signing

Crystal Palace have identified Angers SCO’s Sidiki Chérif as a target for the winter market.

That’s according to Le Parisien, and they report the 19-year-old is attracting ‘considerable interest’, including from Crystal Palace.

Chérif climbed through the ranks of the Ligue 1 side’s academy and promoted to the first team in 2023.

Operating mainly as a striker and at times as a left winger, he scored four goals from 17 matches this season.

According to the newspaper, the youngster has already received approaches from several unnamed clubs. This has seen Angers set a ‘very high price’ between €25-30m.

Crystal Palace would have the resources to get closer to the French club’s demand. The Eagles are closely monitoring the Guinean-born player, who is said to be a ‘revelation in the French league’.

It’s further claimed Oliver Glasner’s side have expressed their intention to make a move for the attacker in January. The FA Cup winners aren’t alone as an unnamed German club are also willing to move forward to sign Chérif.

Crystal Palace can get ahead of competition by offering close to €25m to Angers.

Chérif could replace Christantus Uche at Selhurst Park. The latter is on loan from Getafe and AS reported last week that Eagles have decided not to exercise the purchase clause.
