Release clause will dictate transfer to Manchester United transfer – Player available for €36.5m
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessManchester United are in the hunt for VfB Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, who is also attracting interest from Juventus.
The midfielder joined the German club from Hoffenheim in 2023 and has had smooth progress since then. Impressive performances have led to him already making seven appearances for the national team, playing most recently in March.
This season so far, Stiller has been a regular for Stuttgart. He has played in every Bundesliga game, starting all but four in this campaign.
The 25-year-old has become a symbol of consistency, making a mark with his ability to dictate play.
As talk around Juventus’ interest grows, the Italian side are aware of competition from Manchester United.
Red Devils’ seen as major threat
TuttoSport dive into Stiller’s situation, statingthat Real Madrid were interested in him last summer. This was because of Toni Kroos’ recommendation for them but Stuttgart wanted around €60m to sell him back then.
The player now has a €36.5m release clause in his contract and this is attracting suitors. That is particularly true for Juve, who have been scouting the midfielder for months.
Manchester United are already in the race. They have ‘strong interest’ in the German, who is said to be just behind Sandro Tonali and Carlos Baleba on their shortlist.
The Bianconeri are aware and are trying to get ahead of the game.
Curious release clause dictates everything
The report specifically states that Juve are mainly attracted by the low release clause in Stiller’s contract. If not for that, Stuttgart would ask for around €60m, which is very similar to what they needed from Real Madrid.
The Bundesliga side can still swing things in their favour. If they pay the player a €2m penalty, that release clause can be removed entirely.
Juve wouldn’t want that, as it will hand Manchester United a better opportunity at signing Stiller.
Our take: Juventus are over-optimistic
There is little to no chance Stuttgart let such an important player leave for a very affordable fee. Paying a penalty to remove his clause makes more sense, especially as they will then have more control over the transfer fee.
At that point, Manchester United can easily steal a march on the Old Lady.
Of course, a lot will depend on whether they have signed other midfielders by that time or not. But Stiller is the tempo-dictator that is very much needed at Old Trafford. He isn’t a physical unit like Tonali or Baleba but will certainly add value to the current team.
