"The Fix" Is The Spy Thriller–Heist Movie Hybrid We Deserve

The Fix follows a team of CIA operatives who, after serving their country dutifully, decide that it's time to serve themselves for a change.

Tucker, played by Zachary Levi, is the field operations team leader.

Tucker takes his orders from Larry, played by Liam Neeson.

Our story starts in 2021, when the US was officially ending the war in Afghanistan and removing all US forces.

Our team is trying to extract an Afghan man who fought the Taliban with the US. Now that the war is over, it's no longer safe for him to remain in the country.

However, the Taliban finds the target before the CIA does. This leaves Tucker and Larry with very tough choices.

Although the team tries its hardest, the mission becomes an unmitigated disaster for everyone involved.

Once they're back home, Tucker and his entire team are punished for their conduct. To Larry, this is unconscionable.

Larry's plan to "fix this" is to divulge a state secret to Tucker: In 1981, when the US Embassy in Iran fell, the US hid $25 million in a Tehran hotel.

Here is where our geopolitical thriller turns into a heist movie! Using their CIA training and their desire to make things right, Tucker and his team make a plan to go rogue, sneak into Iran, and grab those millions.

To help them get around, the team hires Zara, a Persian American woman with family in Iran. She eventually takes more than a professional interest in Tucker.

Once they get to Tehran...

...the team has to deal with shootouts...
