Legendary Canucks broadcaster John Garrett dies

Former Vancouver Canucks colour commentator John Garrett has died. He was 74.

Garrett was a mainstay on Sportsnet broadcasts for the team for two decades. He retired as a Canucks analyst at the end of the 2022-2023 regular season.

‘Cheech,’ as he was known, had been a member of the Vancouver Canucks family since 1983. He was initially acquired by Vancouver from the Quebec Nordiques in a mid-season trade on February 4, 1983, the former netminder would spend three seasons with the Canucks.
