Greg Biffle’s friend receives a holiday card from the late NASCAR champion
Greg Biffle and his family got into a horrific plane crash on December 18, 2025, just days before what would have been the NASCAR icon’s 56th birthday. Only three days after the tragedy, on Sunday, December 21, his close friend, Ron Herbert, shared the heartbreaking update: he received the Christmas card that Greg had posted before boarding the fatal plane. In an emotional Instagram post, Rob wrote:
“I received this in the mail today. My words can't say enough about the family.”
The Christmas card featured a lively photograph of the Biffle family: Greg, his wife, Cristina Grossu Biffle, and their children, Emma, 14, and Ryder, 5, are smiling and embracing as they pose in matching white tops and jeans. The message printed on the card now feels hauntingly tragic:
“We hope that you are able to slow down and enjoy the magic and joy that this season has to offer. We hope you have a great New Year! Sending love, Greg, Cristina, Emma & Ryder.”
The private jet crash that claimed the Biffle family: what caused the crash?
The 55-year-old NASCAR star, his wife, Cristina, 35, and their children were the seven people who boarded the ill-fated private Cessna C550 jet that crashed on December 18, 2025, while attempting to land at North Carolina’s Statesville Regional Airport. Also killed in the crash were pilot Dennis Dutton, 67, his son Jack, 20, and a family friend, Craig Wadsworth, 63.
The aircraft was reportedly airborne for only minutes before striking runway light stanchions, hitting trees, and erupting into flames. While the National Transportation Safety Board continues its investigation, flight-tracking data shows the plane attempted to land around 10:20 a.m. before crashing. Witnesses told WSOC-TV the aircraft appeared to be flying unusually low, and weather conditions at the time included low visibility, drizzle, and cloudy skies, according to AccuWeather. According to PEOPLE, Greg's wife had texted her mother, "We're in trouble”, moments before the crash.
