Ruby Rose Got Emergency Neck Surgery After Batwoman Injury

As celebrities challenge themselves with incredibly difficult physical challenges on the new season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, deep secrets from the stars spill out as they try to jump out of a helicopter. No, really. Ruby Rose had to explain a terrifying injury on the set of the CW’s Batwoman to DJ Tanner when she didn’t do a backflip out of a helicopter. “I’ve always done all of my own stunts, so I could turn up as Ruby: the action star,” she shared. “But I had an accident in 2019 on set of Batwoman and everything just sort of got bad from there.” She almost severed her spinal cord and herniated two discs. She had to go into emergency neck surgery, and it affected more than just her physical health, as she prided herself on being a true stunt actor. “There was no bouncing back,” Rose shared in a confessional. “There was no part of me left. It was just the shell. Four years of my life — gone.”

During the first challenge, Candace Cameron Bure asked her why Rose jumped out of the helicopter feet first instead of backward. “I broke my neck, like, twice already. I’ve got two replacement discs,” she explained. Maybe it’s not a great idea to ask someone why they’re doing things differently than anyone else.
