Heimir Hallgrímsson press conference LIVE stream as Ireland manager names squad for World Cup play-off

by · Irish Mirror

Heimir Hallgrímsson will take questions from the media after naming his Ireland squad for next's World Cup play-off semi-final with Czechia in Prague.

The squad is set to be named at 11.30am before Hallgrímsson's press conference, which is due to start at 12.15pm.

Ireland head to the Czech capital off the back of memorable victories against Portugal and Hungary last November.

However, their players have experienced varying fortunes at club level since then, with Hallgrímsson set to cut his provisional squad of approximately 50 players down to between 23 and 25.

One big talking point ahead of the announcement centres on whether David McGoldrick will come out of international retirement. He has been in stunning form for Barnsley in League One, scoring 12 goals in his last 14 outings.

Injured pair Josh Cullen (ACL) and Evan Ferguson (ankle) won't be involved, while Mikey Johnston and Gavin Bazunu are doubts.

You can watch Hallgrímsson's press conference live on the video at the top of this article via the FAI's YouTube channel.
