Carlos Queiroz names 24-man Ghana squad for AFCON qualifiers
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comGhana coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 24-man squad for this month’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as an international friendly against Morocco.
The squad includes players from Ghana’s recent FIFA World Cup team, two debutants, and Mohammed Kudus, who missed the World Cup because of injury.
Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare keeps his place in the squad alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
Nathaniel Adjei also returns to the team after almost a year away. The France-based defender has impressed for Lorient in Ligue 1.
Jan Gyamerah of SV Elversberg and Ronald Donkor of New York Red Bulls have also been called up after their strong performances for their clubs.
Mohammed Kudus returns to the Black Stars after recovering from an injury that kept him out for seven months. He missed the 2026 FIFA World Cup because of the injury.
Ibrahim Osman of Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo’s Ibrahim Sulemana are also back in the squad.
Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24. The Black Stars will then host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
Queiroz’s team will travel to Morocco for a friendly against the Atlas Lions on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
