Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens thinks that the players he will field against Charlton Athletic tonight should feel lucky to be able to play in a brilliant stadium like The Valley.
Charlton are in the second round of the EFL Trophy and they are set to welcome League One rivals Leyton Orient to The Valley tonight.
The O’s will visit The Valley on the back of a 2-0 win over the weekend against Wigan Athletic and will be keen to knock Charlton out of the tournament.
Wellens is set to make some changes in his regular starting line-up for the game against Charlton and added that The Valley is not a bad place to play for the new players that will be given opportunity tonight.
The Leyton Orient boss stated that The Valley is a great stadium and thinks that the players he will give an opportunity to tonight should feel lucky to play on Charlton’s home turf.
When asked about the changes he will make to the line-up, Wellens told Leyton Orient TV: “Well, they have sat on the sidelines for the last few weeks; some of them had game time, but the continuation of what you have seen and what you have learnt over the last three or four weeks.
“Obviously it feels good to play; it feels good to win and go and do a job, and you will get the support from the players that are not playing and the support from the staff.
“Listen, it is not a bad place to go and play, is it?
“Charlton on a Tuesday night, great stadium, brilliant place to play football, so players that are coming [into the team] are lucky to be able to play in such a brilliant stadium and get us through to the next round.”
Charlton have been inconsistent this season and all eyes will be on Nathan Jones’ team tonight to see whether they will be able to progress to the next round.
