Fijin Drua women's team named for 2026 Super Rugby W
by RNZ Pacific reporters · RNZThe Fijian Drua women's team has been named for this year's Super Rugby W.
Hooker Bitila Tawake will captain the side, supported by vice-captains - lock Alfreda Fisher and halfback Kolora Lomani.
The props contingent is anchored by the team's most-capped player and 2024 captain, Karalaini Naisewa, who has 25 appearances for the side.
Among the centres are Fijiana Sevens skipper Verenaisi Ditavutu and 2025's Rookie of the Year Josivini Naihamu.
The Drua Women will kick off their season on the road, playing the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney on 6 June.
This is followed by two home matches at King Charles Park in Nadi, against the Western Force and the Brumbies.
Fijian Drua chief executive Jeff Miller said the players feed off the energy of the home crowd.
"We aren't just looking to host matches; we are looking to defend our turf and inspire the next generation of young women in the process."
The Drua women's regular season matches wrap up on Saturday, 27 June, when the team travels to Brisbane to take on the Reds.
The team has a bye the following week, and there's then a rest week before the Super Rugby W semifinals kick off on 17 July.
The winner of New Zealand's Super Rugby Aupiki will take on the winner of the Super Rugby W in the women's Super Rugby champions final.
The Drua have won Super Rugby W twice, and last year fell at the semifinal hurdle.
Miller said the 2026 season will see the club's continued investment in the Drua women's programme.
