Co-ed schools compete
· Otago Daily Times Online NewsSecondary school students from across the Otago region are battling for sporting supremacy today as the Otago Secondary Schools Co-Ed Winter Sports Tournament gets under way.
Athletes from six co-educational schools are competing across Dunedin to claim the overall Co-Ed trophy.
Participating schools include Logan Park High School, Trinity Catholic College, Kaikorai Valley College, Bayfield High School, Taieri College and East Otago High School.
The tournament features competitions in badminton, basketball, football, hockey and netball. Matches are spread across several city venues.
Badminton is being held at the Bayfield High School Gymnasium, basketball and netball teams meet at the Edgar Centre.
Football matches are taking place at the artificial turf at Logan Park and hockey is taking place at the Alexander McMillan Turf.
Schools earn grade points based on their team placements in each sport.
Those are then converted into code points and the school that accumulates the highest total of code points across all sports will be awarded the overall Co-Ed trophy.
