24th NSF MM Trophy: Defending champs Red Scars FC out; Asufü & Sechü Zubza enter SF

Kohima, September 30: Asufü Christian Institute today became the first team to enter into the semi-final of the ongoing edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial trophy organized by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.

Playing a nail biting first quarter final match, visitors from Manipur, Asufü Christian Institute defeated defending champions Red Scars Football Club by 5-4 via tie-breaker as the teams were locked in a goalless draw during the stipulated time of the match.

During the match, unable to break the deadlock the teams took to offensive play with the referee cautioning four players – two each on either side – with yellow cards while Matthan Ramrar of Asufü was sent away with the first red card of the tournament in the 60th minute.

However, despite one player down, the visitors not only managed to restrain the opponents during the stipulated time but also won the game through the tie-breaker.

Thomas Sagolsem of Asufü Christian Institute was declared the man of the match. President NDPP Central Youth Organization & Former President NSF, Imchatoba Imchen handed over the award. Director of Urban Development Department, Solesül Tholre was the match patron and Neilakuonuo Metha was guest artist.

Playing the second quarter final match, Sechii Zubza FC comfortably defeated F4C Academy by 2-0.

Both goals were scored in the first half by Hemping and Nisede in the 8th and 18th minutes of the game.

Hemping received the man of the match award from Nikeso Zumu PA to Chief Minister

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest Force Government Dharmendra Prakash was the match patron while Sentiein Kichu was the guest artist.

Quarter final matches for Oct 1:

1. Asufü Football Academy vs Michazou FC at 2 p.m.

Circle FC Chedema vs Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong at 5 p.m.
