24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy: Asufü FA enters final

Kohima, October 3: Asufü Football Academy has become the second contender for the prestigious 24th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy organized by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima on the theme ‘Goal for peace’.

Playing the second semi-final match, visitors from Manipur, Asufü FA defeated Circle FC Chedema, Kohima by 2-1 in extra time of the match.

Bijoy Moktan gave the first lead to the visiting team in the 17th minute, however Circle FC Chedema found the equalizer in the 29th minute through V S Zimik.

Subsequently neither side managed to break the deadlock while minutes before the end of second half the visitors sustained a jolt as the referee sent Korouhanba Laishram back to the bench with a red card for foul play.

However, despite playing with 10 players, Asufü FA sealed the match as P. Sorormi Thinsang struck the winning goal in the 104th minute.

Three players of Circle FC Chedema – Toka Achumi, Kipgen Thong and Seilenlal Daniel were also penalized with a yellow card each.

Neingutoulie Kengurüse, Councillor Ward 2 of Dimapur Municipal Council as the match patron gave away the man of the match award to Gachiiwo S Tara of Asufü FA. J V Kelio entertained the spectators as guest artist. (Page News Service)
