Sakunda project manager Nqobile Magwizi considering vying for ZIFA presidency
Highlanders and Dynamos benefactor Sakunda Holdings’ project manager Nqobile Magwizi, has confirmed he is seriously considering running for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency in the upcoming elections.
· Nehanda RadioHis confirmation comes on the back of growing speculation on social media that the youthful football administrator is a potential candidate.
Magwizi, a board member of Banket United, did not dismiss the social media rumours, telling this reporter he is carefully evaluating his decision.
“I have seen the rumours circulating on social media,” Magwizi said. “What I can confirm is that I’m considering contesting for the ZIFA presidency.”
He added: “This is not a decision I take lightly, so I’m consulting with those close to me and football stakeholders before making my final decision.”

Magwizi’s possible bid is rumoured to have the backing of his boss Kuda Tagwirei, the Sakunda Holdings owner.
Magwizi’s potential candidacy comes at a time when ZIFA is undergoing a critical transition.
Many football stakeholders are calling for a ZIFA leadership that can restore the association’s credibility and drive development in Zimbabwean football.
If he enters the race, Magwizi will face competition from a number of prominent figures.
These include; Prophet Walter Magaya, Marshall Gore, Temba Mliswa, Martin Kweza, Philemon Machana and Farai Jere.
The nomination process for the much anticipated ZIFA elections, officially opened on Monday and will close on the 11th of December 2024.
The elections are slated for 25 January 2025 at Rainbow Towers in Harare.
