by Nico Gavino · HypebeastLouis Vuitton‘s latest “Core Values” campaign celebrates the multi-decade-spanning careers of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in tennis. Photographed by the legendary fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, the image shows the sports superstars resting 3,000m high atop the alpine vista of the Italian Dolomites, sporting timeless Louis Vuitton styles.
On the shared campaign Nadal describes Federer as his “biggest rival and now a close friend.” “In my career, I achieved more than I ever dreamt of, so at the end of the day, the legacy in terms of human beings is the most important value,” continued Nadal. Federer also reflected the duo’s former rivalry saying “As our tennis careers come to a close, we’re working together on something like this—it’s been an incredible journey. Being at the top of the Dolomites, feels symbolic in many ways. It really captures what this moment means to us— something truly special and meaningful.”
In the campaign, Nadal and Federer share a reflective moment wearing the Monogram Eclipse backpack and the Monogram Christopher backpack respectively. As they take in the views of the summit together, the visual is symbolic of the closing stage of their careers, while simultaneously representing Louis Vuitton’s travel ethos, highlighting the experience of life and one’s achievements as a winding journey.
The “Core Values“ campaign will be displayed in print insertions and on Louis Vuitton social channels starting today.
