In December, Joshua Van became the second-youngest UFC champion by defeating Alexandre Pantoja. But, for most fans, the fight came with an asterisk. Van caught a kick from Pantoja and pushed him to the ground. The former champion injured his arm catching himself, losing the match by TKO.
This weekend, the fighters will get a rematch in UFC 331: Van vs. Pantoja 2 to find out who truly rules the flyweight division.

Although Van’s acquisition of the flyweight belt didn’t fully convince fans of his prowess, his follow-up title defence in May against Tatsuro Taira helped quiet the haters. In that fight, Van won by TKO during the fifth round with a front kick and a handful of surgical punches.
Now at 17-2, Van will be riding high as he heads back into the ring against Pantoja. But the 36-year-old Brazilian fighter has plenty of experience that could prove difficult for Van in a longer battle. Pantoja (30-6) is still considered one of the sport’s best flyweights of all time. After taking the belt from Brandon Moreno in 2023, Pantoja successfully defended the title four times, winning the final two with a rear-naked choke.
We’ll also get an exciting co-main before Van vs. Pantoja 2 when Arman Tsarukyan takes on Mauricio Ruffy. Tsarukyan has become a fan favorite, but he’ll be the underdog against Ruffy.
