Fresh off his win as a coach on the latest season of The Voice, Niall Horan has something else to celebrate this holiday season, with the opening of his new restaurant, 40 LOVE.

Named after the tennis match score, 40 LOVE opened in Scottsdale earlier this month with a star-studded party that brought out the likes of Gunna, Devin Booker and Jae Crowder, along with 40 LOVE co-founders Sean Mulholland and Avery Johnson Jr. (Horan was reportedly feeling under the weather and unable to attend).

Located in Old Town Scottsdale, the new space merges classic American country club vibes with an upscale lounge aesthetic, serving up dishes like “Caviar Waffle,” “Arancini Wagyu” and “Tiramisu S’mores,” for dessert. The cocktail menu offers a playful twist on familiar favorites, like the Arizona-inspired “Solstice Bloom” (made with in-house infused butterfly pea flower gin) and the signature “Love Potion No. 40,” a take on the spicy margarita made with Patron tequila, watermelon shrub, serrano pepper and Mexican hot sauce.

40 LOVE Scottsdale is the second iteration of the 40 LOVE brand. The first location opened in Los Angeles in 2018 as a buzzy sports bar, and brought out everyone from Justin Bieber to Shawn Mendes before closing shortly after the pandemic. For owners Mulholland and Johnson Jr., along with partners Horan and Deandre Hopkins, the new Arizona location offers a fresh start for the brand, while bringing Hollywood vibes and a celebrity-driven hotspot to the Sunset State.

“We wanted to open 40 LOVE in Scottsdale because the city deserves a concept that feels truly distinctive — a place where fine dining, elevated beverages, and a refined lounge atmosphere come together under one roof,” Mulholland says. “We’re creating a high-end, country-club-inspired experience that complements the sophistication of the area while offering something completely new.”

“Scottsdale is growing fast, and it deserves a destination that matches its energy — refined, stylish, and culturally relevant,” adds Johnson Jr. “We’re building a space where great food, great people, and great moments all meet.”

As for Horan’s ties to the bar: the Irish singer grew up with Mulholland and the two lived together in Los Angeles. He’s also long been a sports fan, frequently spotted at soccer games and golf tournaments alike. He even co-founded Modest Golf, a golf management company, in 2016. The owners are no doubt hoping that Horan’s star power, coupled with the trendy Scottsdale location, will bring both fans and locals alike to the new restaurant.

While the Heartbreak Weather singer wasn’t able to attend the 40 LOVE Scottsdale opening, it was for good reason: Horan was resting at home to prepare for the Season 28 finale of The Voice, which was won by his contestant, Aiden Ross. Ross’ victory marked Horan’s third win as a coach, and made him the first coach in the history of the reality competition series to win in their first three seasons.
