Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit and will be available for India's upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games, while Harshit Rana has been ruled out of both assignments after suffering a fresh injury setback.
Rana had been making good progress during his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence but suffered a rectus femoris strain while bowling in a match simulation on September 7. The fast bowler has subsequently been ruled out, with Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur named as his replacement."The Men's Selection Committee has named Yash Thakur as a replacement for Harshit Rana in India's squads for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games," the BCCI statement read.
Yash Thakur, 27, is a fast bowler from Vidarbha who made his T20I debut during India’s tour of Zimbabwe in July. He played two matches and took four wickets. Thakur has also taken 81 wickets in 50 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches at an economy rate of 7.04.
