The Beast in Me renewed for Season 2, Claire Danes to return

Netflix has renewed The Beast in Me for a second season, with Claire Danes returning as Aggie Wiggs. The pickup follows a strong first-season run marked by 21 Emmy nominations, global reach and a new Howard Gordon deal.

Netflix has renewed The Beast in Me for a second season, with Claire Danes set to return as writer Aggie Wiggs. The announcement comes after the series received 21 Emmy nominations for its first season, including acting and music categories.

Howard Gordon, who wrote the series, will serve as co-showrunner for Season 2 alongside Daniel Pearle. The new season will also mark the beginning of an exclusive creative partnership between Gordon and Netflix.

“We always told ourselves we'd only do a second season of The Beast in Me if we found a story that was worthy of the first — and I'm thrilled to say we found it,” Gordon said in a statement.

He added, “We loved making this show and our audience seemed to love watching it, so we're enormously grateful to Jinny Howe and Netflix, and to Karey Burke and 20th Television for giving us the chance to get the band back together and do it again.”

Claire Dances to return as Aggie Wiggs

In Season 1, Danes played Aggie Wiggs, a writer who becomes involved with her billionaire neighbour Nile Jarvis, played by Matthew Rhys. The first season explored the complicated relationship between the two characters as Aggie became increasingly drawn into Jarvis’ world.

The show also had a strong run at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. Danes was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series, while Rhys won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series.

Rhys’ win marked another milestone in his Emmy career, while composers Sean Callery and Sara Barone won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score).

What to expect from The Beast In Me Season 2

Netflix has not yet revealed details about the plot of Season 2 or announced its release date.

Danes, Gordon and Pearle are among the executive producers for the new season. Antonio Campos, Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Gabe Rotter, Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross and Jodie Foster are also executive producers.

The first season of The Beast in Me is currently streaming on Netflix.
