Hashmatullah Shahidi’s Afghanistan and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s Bangladesh are set to lock horns in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Monday, November 11 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Both teams will have all to play for with the series on the line.
The Afghans made a brilliant start to their campaign after winning the opening game by 92 runs. Mohammad Nabi’s 84-run knock and Allah Ghazanfar’s six-wicket haul guided Afghanistan past the finish line. Bangladesh lost their last eight wickets for 20 runs and were bowled out for 143.
Bangladesh, however, drew level in the series after winning the second game by 68 runs. Nasum Ahmed, who had made a comeback to the ODI team, finished with figures of 8.3-1-28-3. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman picked up two wickets apiece.
Defending 252, Bangladesh bowled the Afghans out for 184 in 43.3 overs. Earlier, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto made 76 runs off 119 balls with the help of six fours and a six. Jaker Ali Anik, who made his ODI debut, scored 37 runs off 27 balls.
Nangeyalia Kharote was the pick of the bowlers for the Afghans with a spell of 8-0-28-3. Rashid Khan also accounted for two wickets. The deciding game is expected to be a thriller.
