England Cricket has announced an ageing 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be held in England and Wales, with captain Nat Sciver-Brunt leading the side. The standout selection is uncapped left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman, who has been included alongside pacers Issy Wong and Lauren Filer.
Corteen-Coleman rose to prominence at just 16 years of age when she took four wickets in four balls for South East Stars in the 2024 Charlotte Edwards Cup. She has since built a strong reputation in The Hundred for Southern Brave. Despite her inclusion, England have largely retained their experienced core for their first home ICC tournament since winning the 50-over World Cup in 2017.
The squad features three left-arm spinners in Corteen-Coleman, Sophie Ecclestone, and Linsey Smith. Off-spinner Charlie Dean has been named vice-captain, while veteran batter Tammy Beaumont has been left out of the squad. In the pace department, Lauren Bell is expected to lead the attack, supported by Issy Wong and Lauren Filer.
Wong’s selection marks another step in her international resurgence after returning to the T20I setup last summer, following her omission from the 2024 T20 World Cup amid a difficult run of form in 2023.
Nat Sciver-Brunt will captain England in what will be her seventh T20 World Cup appearance, while Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who has been in fine form and recently turned 35, is set to feature in her eighth tournament.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will run from 12 June to 5 July and will be the tenth edition of the tournament. It will also be the first to feature an expanded format, with 12 teams competing across 33 matches over a month.
England have been placed in Group B alongside New Zealand, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Sri Lanka, whom they will face in their opening match on 12 June at Edgbaston. The team will aim to replicate their 2009 triumph, when they won the inaugural edition on home soil. Since then, they have finished runners-up three times in 2012, 2014, and 2018.
Ahead of the tournament, England are scheduled to play white-ball series against New Zealand and India as part of their preparations.
