New Delhi: Sri Lanka have left out former captain Charith Asalanka from their 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tri-series in Pakistan, which also features England.
Asalanka’s omission comes after a poor ODI series against England, where he scored only 1, 11 and 7 in the three matches. He was the vice-captain during the England tour and had also led Sri Lanka in the T20I series in the absence of regular captain Kusal Mendis.
Avishka Fernando and Sahan Arachchige have been recalled to the ODI squad. Fernando earned his return after an impressive domestic campaign, while Arachchige has also been rewarded for his consistent performances.

Kusal Mendis has been appointed as the captain of the Sri Lankan team. Pathum Nissanka has also been included, but he will travel only if he receives medical clearance.
The ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England will begin on October 18 in Rawalpindi. The final is scheduled for October 31.
