Nuno has one big transfer 'obsession' as Nottingham Forest January warning delivered
by Sarah Clapson · NottinghamshireLiveHead coach Nuno Espirito Santo has stressed the transfer window must not become a distraction for his Nottingham Forest players as they aim to maintain their fine form.
The Reds travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday (8pm kick-off) for their first match of 2025. They will head to the West Midlands on the back of a club record-equalling five-match winning run in the Premier League.
With the season going so well, Forest are conscious of the risk of disrupting their momentum and team spirit by doing too much in the way of transfer business this month. It means it could be a relatively quiet January at the City Ground.
As was the case in the summer, Nuno is keen to retain the core of his squad. But he accepts there is likely to be speculation about some players as excellent individual and collective performances will inevitably attract the attention of others.
“Staying focused is the most important and the only thing that is really basic for us; that we don’t get distracted by the transfer window,” Nuno said ahead of the clash at Molineux. “We need the players that are here to stay focused, commit themselves and work hard, and let things happen naturally.

“People that have to deal with that side of it (transfer business) will deal with it and work. But in terms of the group, the work ethic has to stay the same.
“You never know what is going to happen in the transfer window. Our obsession is to keep our players in tact. We know that is difficult because a lot of clubs are looking at all the possibilities - with us included in that. This is our priority.”
