Nottingham fans out in force as England take on Ghana in 2026 World Cup

Nottingham's Trent Navigation Inn was a sea of St George flags and England fans galore as England faced off against Ghana in their second match of the 2026 World Cup.
The Trent Navigation Inn, in West Bridgford, is one of several fanzones to have welcomed Three Lions fans for England's group games of the World Cup and many were excited ahead of Tuesday's game (June 23).
Among those to have made the biggest trek of the night to the Trent Navigation Inn were husband and wife Chris and Jenny Wilson.
The pair are originally from Sherwood, but now live in Spain, having watched last week’s 4-2 win over Croatia at a bar in Spain owned by a Nottingham Forest fan.
They decided to come home this week for the match against Ghana.
Mrs Wilson said: “We can’t afford the States, but we decided we can afford to come home to Nottingham for a proper atmosphere and we’ve brought the Spanish weather with us, otherwise it’d be raining.”
Mr Wilson predicted a 4-0 win before kick-off. The game ended 0-0 though, so high hopes weren't matched on the pitch.
After Ghana, England will take on Panama at 10pm on Saturday, June 27 in their final group game of the World Cup.
