Oliver Glasner voices Crystal Palace fear ahead of pivotal Nottingham Forest test

Crystal Palace are still without a win this season and are in the Premier League relegation zone ahead of Monday's trip to Nottingham Forest

Oliver Glasner admits he was unable to stop thinking about Crystal Palace’s poor start to the Premier League season during a trip home to recharge his batteries.

The Eagles are still searching for their first league win this season and head to Nottingham Forest on Monday with the aim of avoiding a third successive defeat.

Taking advantage of the international window, Glasner returned to his native Austria for some down time with family only to be pre-occupied with the club’s position in the bottom three.

“I tried to switch off with the weekend off because we are all human. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and not to over-analyse,” the Palace boss said. “I was in Austria and I visited my family but sometimes they said ‘you are not really here’!

“This is the fate of a football manager – your thoughts, especially in these moments, are always about your team and what you can influence.”

Palace have lost four and drawn three of their Premier League games ahead of their trip to the City Ground and Glasner accepts it is an unsatisfactory opening.

“We are not going into the right direction because we wanted and expected to have more points,” he said. “In many parts of the game we are competitive, but at the end we lose or we have a draw. Some percentages we are missing and this is what we are talking about.

“We all try not to be influenced by the results but it’s not so easy, especially for the players. But also we can see that we’re always able to create chances, so this should give us confidence.”
