Nottingham Forest next five fixtures compared to Champions League rivals after Aston Villa defeat

by · NottinghamshireLive

It was a disappointing evening for Nottingham Forest as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Forest went into the game without an out-and-out forward due to Taiwo Awoniyi picking up an injury in the build-up to the match. He joined Chris Wood on the sidelines.

Things didn't start well for Forest as Villa took the lead in the 13th minute through Morgan Rogers. Just a couple of minutes later it was two as Donyell Malan doubled Villa's lead.

Despite Forest regaining some composure for the rest of the half, that was how the scoreline stayed until the half-time whistle.

Forest halved the deficit through half time substitute Jota Silva in the 57th minute. But the Reds couldn't find an equaliser before the full-time whistle.

Despite the defeat, Forest still sit in third place in the Premier League table, five points ahead of fourth placed Chelsea and in prime position to play Champions League football next season. There could, however, still be some twists and turns.

With that in mind, here is a look at how the next couple of weeks look for both Forest and their rivals.
