Ayris & McCartney Clear 4.80m At Ultimate Athletics Champs

Tori Moorby became the first Kiwi to compete at the World Ultimate Athletics Championships on Sunday morning NZ time, lining up in Budapest in the women’s Javelin. Moorby secured 6th place in the global final with a 58.95m best. The Cambridge-based thrower travelled over to Budapest in the last few days after securing her spot in the inaugural championship.

Zoe Hobbs had a long season of racing in her legs, unfortunately not recapturing the magic that saw her fly to a Commonwealth Gold medal in Glasgow. Hobbs was off the pace early, finishing in 8th position in the first semi-final with an 11.27s run.

The women’s pole vaulters saved some of their best jumping in 2026 for last, wth both Imogen Ayris and Eliza McCartney clearing 4.80m. With a clean scorecard through to 4.80m, Ayris secured 4th position on the day, with McCartney finishing in 5th on count-back.

McCartney’s result was her best result at an outdoor global final since her emphatic bronze in Rio 2016, 10-years ago.
