Suryansh Shedge finally proves worth with 24-ball fifty in IPL 2026, rescues PBKS

The Mumbai all-rounder, who was bought for Rs 30 lakhs in he IPL 2025 mega auction was retained for the same amount ahead of the mini-auction in 2026. While he did make his IPL debut way back in 2025, he made the least of the impact, scoring just 7 runs in 5 matches.

Suryansh Shedge scored 57 runs off 29 balls, at a strike rate of 196.55, laced with 3 fours and 5 sixes. His fifty came at a time when PBKS were losing wickets in quick succession. Shedge stitched together a 79-run partnership with Marcus Stoinis to help PBKS post over 161 runs in their game against GT. PBKS finished with 163/9 on board, with the opposition needing 164 runs to win.
A talent from Mumbai who created waves with his performances in the domestic circuit over the last 12 months or more, the all-rounder has shown promise with both bat and ball. He has 201 runs and 13 wickets from 24 T20s. in IPL 2025, he got limited opportunities for PBKS and scored just 7 runs. However, Shedge has been retained by the IPL side and will hope to get more opportunities in 2026. He has already come under the lens of the national selectors and has played for India A. A call-up to the senior team isn’t far away.
Mohammed Siraj rattled Punjab Kings with a twin strike in the first over to remove Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. With Kagiso Rabada dismissing Prabhsimran Singh, PBKS managed just 35/3 in the powerplay. Soon after the powerplay, Jason Holder struck to remove Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer. Wickets continued to fall in the middle and death overs. Shedge, Stonis, Bartlett and Jansen were the final wickets to fall.
