Ticket refund announced for Lucknow fans after IND vs SA 4th T20I was abandoned due to bad weather
by Naman Jain · Inside Sport IndiaThe fifth and final T20I is now scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tonight.
Some respite for fans as the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has announced a full ticket refund for spectators after the fourth T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday due to excessive fog.
The match, scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST with the toss at 7:00 PM, was called off following six separate inspections by the umpires. Despite multiple checks, visibility did not improve enough for play to begin, and the final inspection was carried out at 9:25 PM before the decision to abandon the game was taken.
UPCA issues refund guidelines for fans
UPCA has released separate refund procedures for online and offline ticket holders. Spectators who purchased tickets online will receive their refunds digitally. The amount will be credited back to the original payment method, and fans will be informed through their registered email addresses in the coming days.
For those who bought tickets offline, refunds can be collected in person from the Ekana Stadium box office at Gate No. 2 on December 20 and 21, between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM IST. Dedicated refund counters will be set up at the venue to assist spectators.
Offline ticket holders must carry their original physical ticket along with a copy of a government-issued ID for verification. Both documents need to be attached to the refund form, which must include accurate bank account details. Once verification is complete, the refund amount will be transferred directly to the provided bank account. UPCA clarified that refunds will be processed only after successful verification of all submitted documents.
The abandonment meant India retained their 2–1 lead in the five-match series, extending their unbeaten run in T20I series since 2023. The fifth and final T20I between India and South Africa will now be played on December 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where a series result will still be decided.
