Pacer Mohammed Shami included in Bengal's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad

It seems Bengal selectors are trying to make a huge statement here, as far as their pacer Mohammed Shami is concerned. Once again, they have named Mohammed Shami in their squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, that is due to start on December 24. In a way, it is also rewarding his strong performances, and has managed to capture 36 wickets across formats in the domestic season this year.
Shami to lead Bengal pace attack
While he has been repeatedly ignored for selection in the Indian team, be it Tests of ODIs, he has come up with a strong showing for Bengal in the past. In fact, he played a crucial role in Bengal’s unbeaten run in the Ranji Trophy this year, where they have three outright wins.
If Shami’s Ranji Trophy numbers are concerned, he has picked up 20 in four matches, at an average of 18.60. IN SMAT, he was impressive as he picked 16 wickets in only 7 matches. Meanwhile, Bengal has a strong squad for VHT, where Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Abhimanyu Easwaran are there too.
Then there are IPL stars like Abhishek Porel and Shahbaz Ahmed. The team is placed in Group B, that also has teams like Vidarbha, Baroda, Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.
