With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 getting intense with each passing day, in match number 44, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated their arch-nemesis Mumbai Indians (MI) by 8 wickets. As a result, Hardik Pandya & Co. had to suffer yet another defeat, their third consecutive one in IPL 2026. While this was a tough one, MI batter Tilak Varma also was a part of an unfortunate incident.
Overton’s costly ball to Tilak Varma
With MI winning the toss and opting to bat first, they lost Will Jacks early in the innings. However, Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir stitched a 58-run stand but Rickelton departed off Noor Ahmad’s over. Then came Suryakumar Yadav, followed by Tilak Varma, both of whom had a brief stay. However, during Tilak’s 8-ball 5 innings against CSK, he suffered a small injury and also lost something he was wearing on his hand in the process. The incident unfolded in the 12th over of MI’s innings off Jamie Overton’s over.
The MI batter attempted a scoop shot off Overton’s fiery pace but missed it completely. As a result, the ball struck him and dislodged something off his wrist, which fell on the ground. Some believed it was a watch. However, it was a WHOOP fitness band, which is worth INR 28,000. Although the batter did not hesitate much from the band, as he quickly put it back on after being attended to by the team physio.
Tilak Varma watch collection
While the cricketer maintains a comparatively low-key profile, he boasts of a vast collection of watches. The Indian middle-order batter owns some high-end pieces, which also exceed the value of INR 1 crore. As per the information available, Varma’s collection includes an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked, a Patek Philippe Aquanaut, a Rolex Land Dweller and even a Rolex Submariner Date and Datejust.
He has sported all these pieces at several different events, making him an ardent lover of watches. Although Varma hasn’t revealed his most prized piece from the collection, it is likely to be the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Open, which costs around INR 2.13 crore.
