India cricket team star Rohit Sharma has commenced preparations for the upcoming three-match ENG vs IND ODI series which is scheduled to begin from July 14. The Hitman, who is active only in the 50-over format of the game, reached London early to start preparing for what will be his international assignment this year. Rohit will be aiming to put up good performances against England as the series marks an important step in his preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Rohit Sharma reaches London, begins prep for ENG vs IND ODIs
As per The Times of India, Rohit Sharma checked into London way ahead of the ENG vs IND ODI series and has already taken part in a couple of full-fledged sessions in and around London. The report states that the Hitman sweated it out at these clubs with his close friends and local club bowlers. Sharma first trained at the Slough Cricket club, after which he moved to Swyncombe Cricket Club. The report states that the Rohit’s decision to take part in the sessions ahead of the ODI series was a part of his plan to acclimatise to the conditions before joining the rest of the team in Birmingham.
Rohit Sharma was last seen in action in the series against Afghanistan. He registered scores of 16, 48 and 79 in the three-match series, proving that he was still in sublime touch. The Hitman, who has 11720 runs in ODIs to his name, has a stellar record while playing in England. He has scored 1428 runs in 27 matches played in the UK, averaging 64.90. Sharma has scored seven hundreds and fifties each while playing in England and has only been dismissed for a duck twice. A bulk of those runs came in the 2019 World Cup where he scored 5 hundreds.
The ENG vs IND series will mark Rohit Sharma’s return to the UK to play a 50-over format game for the first time in 4 years. The last time he played in England, he had registered scores of 76*, 0 and 17 in the three-match series against ENG.
