Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits 2nd fastest Vijay Hazare Trophy century in 36 balls for Bihar
by Naman Jain · Inside Sport IndiaVaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest player to hit a century in List-A cricket.
When all the spotlights were going to fall on the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), a 14-year-old has bagged all the attention. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has continued his march towards unrealism, smashing his maiden List-A century for Bihar. Guess what? He took just 36 balls to get to the triple-digit mark, smashing all kinds of records on his way.
At just 14 years and 272 days old, Suryavanshi is not just the youngest player to hit a century in List-A cricket but has made the second-fastest as an Indian. Only Anmolpreet Singh’s 35-ball century for Punjab in 2024 came quicker than Suryavanshi’s landmark. Incidentally, both these hundreds have come against Arunachal Pradesh, with Suryavanshi smacking it in the Plate Group of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Meanwhile, Suryavanshi has converted his century into 150, reaching the landmark in just 59 balls. With this, he has also broken AB De Villiers’ record, who took 64 balls when he smashed a 66-ball 162 against the West Indies at the 2015 ODI World Cup in Sydney. Unfortunately, Suryavanshi couldn’t get to a double-century mark, as he got out at 190 off just 84 balls. He slowed down a bit after his 150 but could’ve easily broken the record for the fastest List-A double century as well, which is currently held by New Zealand’s Chad Bowes (in 113 balls).

Superstar Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) superstar has surpassed the previous record held by Ayush Mhatre, who had set a milestone earlier in the same season at 18 years and 135 days. Mhatre beat Rohit Sharma’s record when he smashed a ton for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
However, Suryavanshi has now already scored hundreds in VHT, SMAT, IPL, Youth ODI, Youth Test and for India A as well. Moreover, the southpaw clubbed a 95-ball 171 in Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 as well. At just the tender age of less than 15, Suryavanshi has achieved all this. This is not just a generational talent but an all-time talent, and it is BCCI’s responsibility not to squander a budding player like Suryavanshi.
