Ayush Mhatre surpasses Rohit Sharma in a major record after 53-ball 110 in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Ayush Mhatre, the young CSK batter has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. After he lit IPL 2025 with some scintillating performances, he has shone consistently in the domestic circuit as well. On Friday, the Mumbaikar became the youngest to score a century in all three formats — FC, List A and T20, when he smashed 110 from just 53 deliveries, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Mumbai vs Vidarbha.
Ayush Mhatre breaks major record
He got to the record at 18 years and 135 days, and bettered former India skipper Rohit Sharma’s record of 19 years and 339 days. The other players on the list are Unmukt Chand — 20 years, Quinton de Kock — 20 years and 62 days, and Ahmed Shehzad at 20 years and 97 days.
The teenage sensation has been taking giant steps in Indian domestic cricket, where he is the U19 skipper in all formats, and is due to lead the team in the U19 Asia Cup. As far as his knock in the SMAT is concerned, he first completed his fifty in 20 deliveries only, and reached his ton with a six.
Chasing 193 in Lucknow, Shivam Dube too played his part with all-round show, where he first picked up 3/31 in his quota of overs, and then slammed 39 from 19, in a knock that included three sixes and as many fours. As for the SMAT points table, Mumbai have now won both their matches, and are in second position of Elite Group A.
Mumbai will next face Andhra on November 30 at the same venue, Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
