IPL 2026: MS Dhoni set to miss CSK vs DC match, Dewald Brevis hopeful
by Ansh Athani · Inside Sport IndiaCSK has lost their first three with MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis sitting on the sidelines. Perhaps their return will change the outcome.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won’t have the services of MS Dhoni for their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The 5-time champions have a 6-day break, and they’ll take the field on April 11 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
MS Dhoni not fit for CSK vs DC match
However, things won’t be much better. Dhoni, the man-in-charge at CSK for nearly 2 decades, won’t be available for at least one week. According to Cricbuzz, the wicketkeeper is set to miss both of Chennai’s home games; they face the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14.
Dhoni has been managing a calf injury, which he sustained during the pre-season training camp. In the meantime, CSK has lost 3 games. The veteran cricketer hasn’t travelled with the team, home or away. He’s remained in Chennai throughout but didn’t come to the ground for the Punjab Kings match on April 3.
He’s been working with a physio and masseur and is even training in the nets. He’ll undergo fitness tests before getting clearance to play but it doesn’t look like he’ll play in Chennai. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that Dhoni will need more time to regain full fitness. Exactly how much time? He didn’t specify. “MS is undergoing rehab, and it will take some time. We can’t say how much time,” Kasi told Cricbuzz.
Dewald Brevis on track to play
As for Dewald Brevis, who sustained a side strain during practice, he remains on track to feature in the CSK vs DC match. The South African batter still has 3 days to recover, and the franchise expects him to pull through.
“We are hoping he will be available for the next game, but that will depend on how he progresses. We have a few days before the next game,” Kasi added.
